Afrotellers Conference 2026: Narrative Sovereignty in the Age of AI and Shifting Global Power
The Afrotellers Conference 2026 convenes 200+ storytellers, activists, researchers, media practitioners, policymakers and cultural leaders from across Afrika and the diaspora in Mombasa, Kenya, 28â31 October 2026.
The programme spans policy and practice dialogues with national government, East African Community and African Union actors; a first-ever academic paper track alongside a curated storytelling exhibition and screening programme; and three structured sub-themes â AI and algorithmic colonialism, policy-practice dialogue, and the cultural economy of Afrikan narratives.
